Singing bowls are an excellent tool for inducing Shamanic trance states or for meditation.
To play a singing bowl - either strike the bowl with the mallet for a percussive tone or rub around the bowl with the mallet for a sustained note. Resting the bowl on the palm of your hand gives greater depth although you can also place the bowl on a singing bowl cushion or sandbag on a table. How you hold the bowl and the pressure and speed of the mallet can affect the tone - experiment to find the tone which suits you best.
