Do I need a drum or to go in a sweat lodge?

No. You don't need anything apart from honesty and a dedication to following a course of personal and spiritual development.

Beginners welcome. Enquires and questions welcome. There is no such thing as a stupid question rather it is a wise person who knows when to ask.

Shamanism - What's Going On?

What is going on? (quotes from the confused)

"I saw and talked to people that were not there when I was a child. I was always told it was my imagination."

"One night I was in bed (sat up not asleep - I think I was reading as that's what I tend to do) when I heard someone calling my name. I ignored it as you would, thinking I was imagining things. It happened again MUCH louder. I don't know why but I actually said 'What!' in a rather annoyed manner. I don't know who I thought I was shouting at as I knew there was no-one in but me.

"I met my guide when I had a near death experience."

"Something strange is going on."

"I keep thinking I am crazy."

"I see animal images when doing healing."

But I can't be a Shaman because

"A Shaman is something important and I’m just me."

"I'm not Native American/Romany/Celtic."

"I dont know what is going on but it cant be that I may be a Shaman. How can I call myself a Shaman? That sounds really egotistical."

"I don't know anything about being a Shaman"

"I havent done a training course. I just talk to my Guides"

"I just talk to my Guides and do healing. A Shaman is someone more important."

Does any of the above sound like you?

It can be wonderful to talk to other people who feel the same as you and have similar experiences to you. You may find that you are led to or discover places by accident where you can find support in your Shamanic training and Shamanic being.

If you were led to Indie Shaman then Welcome! We are a friendly bunch of Shaman, Shamanic practitioners and other people interested in a Shamanistic way of life. Please browse our web site for more information or join us for a chat on the Indie Shaman Forum.
